The sometimes seemingly Absurd approaches to Illumination
One comes across seemingly absurd Traditions using some Pagan symbols. Sometimes they are quite articulate and interesting, such as the Greg Hill and Kerry Thornley Discordianism and/or Erisian Traditions. They say things such as "The Principia Discordia is a Mirror, when a Monkey looks in, no Saint looks out." (No disparagment of our chimpish brethern implied) There has also been a lot of speculation that perhaps the forces, however visualized, that nurture the spiritual development upon this planet, having seen the disasterous result of the religious Traditions that have been introduced seriously, over time, and thus have decided to try introducing Traditions which use humour and shock to promote humanity's spiritual growth, in the hope that such Traditions will be more difficult to turn into creaking bureauocractic edifaces which have lost and/or inverted all impetus they might have had at one time. The Trickster has a long tradition both in the Deities and teachers of many Traditions, often to great benefit. Some Individual Pagans and Traditions seem to find these absurdist Traditions troublesome. Perhaps it is sometimes necessary in order to get past a plateau in spiritual development that an Individual may have to be "tricked" into achieving more that they may believe themselves capable of?
