Celebrant Preparations
Here are posted suggestions
and recommendations for Preparation for any Individual who is planning
on Participating in a Garden of Life Work, particularly Circles.
We define such Individuals as Celebrants.
Every Celebrant should contemplate what they wish to achieve and represent in their portion of the Celebration: this may include such items as personal definitions of what each Element has Correspondences to in their Lives and what are their respective Strengths and Weaknesses in those Aspects; and what should they do to represent those Strengths and Work on those Weaknesses.
Spend some time grounding, centering and/or meditating about precisely what it is that you will accomplish in the principal Celebration, define it as exactly to yourself as possible. Try not to pre-define or limit the range of your thought. Write it down and keep it in a Sacred Space.
If you don't have a Personal Altar where you live, consider putting one up. Put things on it that remind you of Your Will concerning the UpComing Celebration.
Go By The Site, Be sure you know where it is exactly, and have decided how you are going to get there and back; how long you are going to stay, etc.
If you are staying overnight, bring sleeping bags, pillows, ground covers, tents and everything you need to camp comfortably. You will be glad of any bedding and lounging wear and comfort implements you bring. Bring small digging or smoothing implements if you have access to them
Each Celebrant should think of and do something to help with the Set-up Process and/or Clean-up Process. We are expected to, and should expect ourselves to leave the Site a little nicer than it was when we got there; Including but not limited to: Everyone should have some way to collect the trash that they generate while they are out there, bring a plastic bag or whatever. Smokers should have tin cans or whatever to keep cigarette butts in and carry them out. When you are walking around and see little bits of trash, try to pick it up and get it in one of the bags we will haul out.
Consider the contingencies of weather, what you will do if it gets Hot, Cold or Rains; bring warm clothing, extra socks, jackets, changes of clothes in case you get caught in the rain, etc., think about bringing extra for people who forget.
Besides the main Celebration Circle, there will be time to work on other Metaphysical Processes. Bring the Tools or Focuses that you wish to work on. Bring any Tools, Altar Implements, Etc. that you wish to Consecrate or have Consecrated. Bring a Notebook to jot down concepts you come across that you wish to think about later or ask questions about.
Think of something to contribute to the Feast after the Big Circle and/or the regular food supply. Also bring little snacks and subsistence foods that you like for yourself, for those times you may be hungry when there is no general food preparation going on. Every one is expected to bring or go in with other people on their drinks, ice and coolers.
Bring Musical Instruments, Drums and small battery operated Stereos.
Bring First Aid Stuff, Allergy or other Special Medications you might need. Bring Insect Repellent if desired. If you are below the legal age of responsibility, make sure your parents or guardians know where you are and that we know how to reach them if necessary, and that you have turned in a signed Affirmation of Permission.
Bring Some Fire Wood, Every one needs to bring at least a little. Bring Candles, Tiki Torches, Propane Lanterns and Flashlights.
Bring hiking boots and accessories.
Register with Garden of Life as soon as possible as to what you are willing and able to do to help in the Set-Up or the Clean-Up.
