Month of Ma'at
Full Moon
The Ankh itself seems almost as if it is a full moon
setting atop the sign for Aries. It symbolizes the sun setting on
the horizon. The masculine and feminine merging. In the Egyptian
mind set the round part was the sun which had feminine aspects, the horizontal
line the horizon, and the vertical line the earth, which had many masculine
aspects.
It is also believed to be a sandal strap representing
the way of the going. Which is the mode and method of Life. It
is action and constant determination of the continuance, or evolution, of
Life in all its myriad forms. The first breath that a child takes after
leaving its mother’s womb is an act of Ankh. The drive to breathe,
to continue with life through its changes. Every time you move toward
a deeply desired goal is an act of Ankh. It is Life on it’s most basic
and instinctual level.
