    Heka literally translated means Power.  But more holistically, meaning taking it into the context of the Ancient Egyptian culture, it was One’ personal power, or force, separate from One’s own True Will or Sekhem.  To be more specific, Heka is Magick in Mr. Crowley’s meaning of it.  The use and direction of One’s own True Will.  It is the Bending with in certain perameters set by a given situation and the understanding of the laws of Nature.  It is the power with in to direct the Will.
    There was a time when Magick was every where, in every one.  It was regarded as a normal and sacred manifestation of Life.  Then as time has gone by reason has taken a divergent road.  The God reason has slowly replaced what was once thought of as Magick.  Of course by this I mean Life has been given reasons that do not include Magick.  In fact the whole purpose of reason has become to eliminate Magick form the understanding of a given topic, whether it be natural phenomena or brain chemistry.  Grand was the day when Magick and Reason studied in the same libraries and lived under the same roof.
    True Magick is the product of knowledge and understanding.  This is a vast realm that encompasses the senses, the mind, the heart, and energy.  Energy in all it’s forms such as, heat, electricity, electromagnetic, kinetic, and chemical.  All of these forms of energy have been thought of as Magick at one time or another.  Through the understanding of them, that is finding their different needs for existence, their “Magic” was lost.  But this is an example of a very physical manifestation of a very low level Magick, one that, as far as we understand, is limited to this plane of existence. 
    Science has chased this beast Magick for a long time now and with every “Reason” it comes up with a new “Magic” is found.  With the microscope we found cells.  When we found cells we found cell membranes, which are a mystery.  When science made an electron microscope we found molecules, then atoms, then particles, then ions, and the evidence of smaller and smaller and even smaller things which have yet to be named or proven.  This aspect that has yet to be proven and named is the next magic to be dispelled by reason.  Gravity as well.  There is yet to be a reason for gravity and yet we have a name for its particle, the gravitron. 
    On and on we go on this spiral dance of discovery.  This dance mirrors the dance of the spirit.  The more and more aspects that we learn about our selves and the energies in the Cosmos the more and more we find.
