Duality
Teaching: An & Ah
 

    The New Moon in Gemini heralds in the Lunar Month of Shu.  Shu is the Neter of the atmosphere, opposite Tefnut, the biosphere.  They saw that in the world there was a cycle of moisture and dryness.  In the sky and the land itself cycled this way with the inundation of the Nile River.  The Egyptians believed that both were integral for a healthy world.  Gemini is a very dualistic sign, represented by the “Twins”.  These twins are two sides of the same coin.  This can manifest itself in many different ways.  From complimentary pairs of qualities in a person or to opposing qualities fighting each other.  In Egypt two prominent dualities were An & Ah.  An is the Divine Energy as it manifests into the world.  Ah is the spiritual substance that An comprises as it enters this world.
    The N, in An, is Energy, in any of it’s form as has been described at Aries New Moon, Month of Nefertum.  Together the word An is Divine physical Energy.  The H, in Ah, is a very soft H, almost only a breath.  It is a twisted yarn of flax thought to be a wick for a lamp.  Fire has long been a symbol of spirit.  The H is also linked with words of a Spiritual nature, like Heka, or words of Power, and HeH, or Eternity.   The A that proceeds them both is the filter the sounds pass through.  A the Kite, a relative of the Hawk.  This gives the idea that their filters are those of the first sound that all creatures make after birth, the first sound in the alphabet, the letter A.  Cried or screamed, it is a passionate and powerful sound of manifestation.  The   N and H give the filter a focus like a lens. 
The symbols used for Hieroglyphs were never arbitrary.  Their assignments and evolution were divined carefully and deliberately.  Words that shared Hieroglyphs were for the most part connected in concept by the concepts that went along with the Glyphs.  The meditations for this month should be along the lines of developing a duality with in Oneself to the effect of gaining a new perspective on both the worlds with and without Oneself.  Also on the Hieroglyphs of An and Ah.  Chant them in your meditations to develop a better understanding of how things are manifested in this world.  How when once created in another plane they can traverse the veils and manifest in this one.
